Fitness for a College Student

Emily Castellanos

Summer is almost here— its time to get in shape!
College is hard on many levels…school, homework, extracurricular activities, sorority life, and keeping off the Freshman 15. By the way if you think you dodged the Freshman 15 it also exists for sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

The past few weeks, I have been hitting the gym, trying to get in shape for summer. A little running and doing as many crunches as I can before I feel like dying is about all I can do right now…keep reading for some of my favorite things to keep me in shape!

My workout routine…
            30-45 minutes of running
Crunches (as many as I can)
            20 Twist crunches with a 6-pound ball
            40 Bicycle crunches
            Stretch!!

Favorite Athletic Wear…
            Nike running capris
Any pair of Nike running pants are great, but here is a pair that is a little less expensive than most.

            Nike running shorts
                        Also great for class!

            Nike Lunarglides
It is best to go to a running store where they can fit shoes to your feet and your running/walking style. These fit me best! They have great support and come in awesome colors.

            Lulu lemon shirt
Perfect for Texas weather! A light layer for running.

Music…
For running and workout music I usually like to use the app 8 Tracks. It has playlists for every mood! I like to look up different workout and running playlists in the search bar.

After my workout I usually like to stretch a little and listen to a yoga playlist on 8 Tracks.

Obviously I’m no expert when it comes to fitness or health, but these are just some of my favorite things and things that I have found to work for me. I hope you try some of these out and enjoy!!
