Mary Clark Educational Services offers international music students a variety of aids that can help their transition onto the Texas Christian University campus. The service provides help, both financial and informational, with housing, monetary assistance and employment. Students can be hired by outside parties to perform their musical abilities at various functions or as music tutors for children at the elementary school level.
Clark Educational Services provides students with a type of “home away from home” because it gives international students the basic necessities that they would otherwise not know how to get. The program generously provides financial gifts that can be used to pay for basic necessities that the students may need. Being a non-profit organization, Mary Clark Educational Services is funded by voluntary donation and through grants given by outside organizations.
The founder, Mary Clark Smith, has poured her heart and soul into the organization and has become a mother to the many different students who have needed the help of her organization. Students who have utilized the organization have gone on to accomplish many great things that they would not otherwise been able to do in their home country.
Jose Martin, a Texas Christian University music student, says that he owes all his success to CES. As am international student from Brazil and always wanted to pursue his dreams of playing piano professionally in the United States. When he was accepted to TCU he was ecstatic but nervous about his transition into the United States. When he found out about CES he was able to join a community of international music students, just like himself, who supported him and gave him the tools he needed to graduate from TCU and pursue a career as a pianist.
The organization has currently been on a hiatus but it plans to relaunch in the upcoming months. To do so the organization will need to market to current and upcoming international music students who could use the assistance that they offer. The goals and ambitions of this generous organization are to give international students a chance to pursue their musical dreams in a safe and supportive environment.
I like how you included an example of a student who has benefitted from CES. It's a very interesting organization and they do a lot to help others!
ReplyDeleteThis is a good informational blog post. I like the description of what the CES is to students.
ReplyDeleteI like the use of a student example, the description of CES and the fact that you list the things other than just financial aid they give to the students.
ReplyDeleteI love the student example as well. It was great how you talked about him then showed a picture of him. I think it makes things more real and helps people better connect to how CES has helped these students.
